A new report from Inbound Writer and Eightfold Logic shows that search trends and popular topics can help businesses using content marketing optimize content and encourage user engagement.

According to the study, diverse content marketing campaigns that appropriately refer to trending search topics result in increases in visitors‘ time spent on web pages of more than 150 percent in some cases.

„For the first time, we have a direct study that clearly shows the value of leveraging real-time search and social intelligence during the content creation process, as opposed to in separate steps or not at all,“ Bryan Eisenberg, an online conversion expert, is quoted as saying in the release.

It should be said, though, that news content marketing that integrates trending topics can be troublesome if the content sacrifices relevance for the sake of hot search terms. Brafton has reported that current search algorithms were written to punish articles of a lesser quality.
