This week, Google announced  the expansion of Instant Previews on its search result pages on its Inside Search blog.

User experience designer Jeromy Henry said that the search result previews will now occupy the entire right side of the web browser. Previews have been a part of Google since the company first launched Instant. However, by shifting paid advertisements to the bottom of the page, Google has enabled its users to see larger previews of the websites they’re clicking on.

The move will allow users to identify the most relevant pages before clicking on them. Ultimately, the tool will make the search experience even more successful, as users will be more likely to land on the pages they’re looking for.

For marketers, the previews place an even greater emphasis on page design and layout. While SEO(L) content on the page will decide ranking, an attractive page will be more effective in luring users. At the same time, highlighted snippets of text relevant to the user’s query may be more visible, necessitating quality content marketing.

While Google has been active in helping businesses understand its methods in determining rankings, Instant Previews is another demonstration that the company is dedicated to ensuring the user is the No. 1 priority in its search business.

Searchers appear to be pleased with Google’s contributions. Earlier this month, Brafton reported that Google currently accounts for nearly two-thirds of all web searches. Furthermore, its mobile search application is one of the most frequently used on its Android mobile operating system.
