Google has announced an initiative which will see it partner newspaper publishers and digitize millions of pages of news archives.

In a post on the search engine firm’s official blog, Punit Soni, product manager at the organization, explains that users will be able to search the publications and browse through them in the same way as they were originally printed.

He notes people will be able to use this resource by carrying out a search in the Google News Archive by typing in queries such as "Nixon space shuttle" or "Titanic located".

"As we scan more articles and our index grows, we’ll also start blending these archives into our main search results, so that when you search Google.com you’ll be searching the full text of these newspapers as well," Mr Soni concludes.

In another recent post on its official blog, Google announced a number of updates to its Suggest resource.
