Saint Patrick’s Day is a joyous occasion for Irish Americans, holiday-loving enthusiasts and – among others – marketers in the beverage industry who benefit from the „slainte“ spirit of the day. (Slainte is „cheers“ in Gaelic.) But marketers beyond the beer and liquor sectors can celebrate the day if they use trending St. Patrick's Day-related search phrases to produce timely, industry-relevant content on their sites.

At press time, St. Patty's Day-related phrases dominate Google's top four Hot Search terms. Holiday-inspired searches account for six of the top 10 search terms. Creative, high-quality approaches to content are helping some brands answer related queries and bring traffic to their sites on this celebratory day.

For example, ReelzChannel.com – an online movie forum – has come up with a „Luck o' the Irish Movie Challenge“ that revolves around content written about movies set in Ireland. It names films St. Patrick's Day enthusiasts – and relevant site visitors – may enjoy. The company has also linked its St. Patrick's Day film page to its related Facebook campaign, encouraging further brand engagement.

Google Trends, March 16 Savvy marketers connecting their brands to the holiday may have found that timely content started paying off earlier in the week as well. Yesterday, Google Trends revealed that online searchers were looking for a number of celebration suggestions, including corned beef and cabbage recipes. This provided a nice opportunity for brands in the food, home living, party-planning and similar industries to offer up their best recipes and themed meal suggestions.

They key to capitalizing on Google search trends is to find the links that make timely topics relevant to your products and services. Brands that invest in good writing will likely find that trending, industry-appropriate content catches timely clicks.
